Terranea is committed to an educational campaign that focuses the attention of our guests on environmental issues. This guided hike stops at a variety of nature viewing points. Walking amongst the coastal sage, guests may spot a California Gnat Catcher or an Allen’s Hummingbird, which are native to Southern California. Experience the unique sport of archery on our beautiful range with sweeping views of Catalina Island. Our skilled archery instructors will provide you with bow and arrow instruction, followed by shooting practice and games. PLEIN AIR PAINTING
Throughout the halls of the resort, guests of Terranea are surrounded by a uniquely Californian style of Plein Air painting. The French translation is “in the open air,” the perfect setting to paint. With helpful tips provided by your instructor and using your own creative expression, we invite you to create your own original and beautiful work of art. This is a beginner level class; everyone is welcome.

Paddle boarding along the Palos Verdes coast is an unforgettable experience! Guided by our skilled instructor, you will test your core strength while paddling through amazing kelp beds along the shoreline. Explore our naturalists’ favorite coastline treasure: the tide pools. After a steep yet quick hike, the adventure continues in the tide pools as we take a close-up look at the water’s edge.

Paddle through the stunning kelp beds along the Terranea coastline. This underwater forest is home to the California marine state fish, the Garibaldi, bottlenose dolphins, seals and sea lions. Experience the Catalina Channel’s famous underwater reserve on one of our stable, siton-top tandem kayaks. Highly experienced instructors offer a safe, fun, and informative tour, pointing out highlights as you paddle.
