Torrance Memorial Hospice Successfully Raises Funds Through Great Family Getaway Promotion

Feb. 10, 2012 - Torrance Memorial Hospice, Promenade on the Peninsula, and Terranea Resort concluded their second annual fundraising effort, “The Great Family Getaway,” benefiting the Hospice and Bereavement programs at Torrance Memorial Medical Center.

"The funds raised from our collaborative effort with Terranea Resort and Promenade on the Peninsula have allowed us great flexibility in helping families with unexpected costs and challenges that occur near the end of life," according to Dr. James A. McKinnell, Medical Director of Torrance Memorial Hospice. "Hospice care is a critical mechanism to provide necessary medical, spiritual, and social support to families and their loved ones during their final days together. We genuinely appreciate and recognize the community's involvement in our mission."

Through the sale of raffle tickets during the holiday season, participants entered to win a getaway vacation to Terranea Resort.  This year, proceeds amounted to more than $1,875.
