Terranea Resort Celebrates The Year Of The Monkey

LA’s Premier Oceanfront Resort Revels Traditional Chinese New Year With Wellness Offerings and Themed Menus

Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. (Jan. 28, 2016)Terranea Resort, A Destination Hotel, rings in the Chinese New Year with cultural offerings February 6-12. From oceanfront meditation to festive culinary delights, guests can immerse themselves in the celebration. Guests may partake in a peaceful new year by joining Bhante Sujatha, Buddhist monk of 30 years, who will lead a Sunset Meditation Workshop at The Spa Movement Studio. Inspiring guests to embrace the present and find their tranquility, the two-hour workshop includes a meditation session, as well as a lecture by Bhante titled, “What is Loving Kindness?” Proceeds will be donated to his maternity ward and incubator project in Sri Lanka.

*Saturday, February 6, 4-6 pm; $35 suggested donation.


For a festive afternoon snack, sea beans will serve a selection of dim sum, including lobster har gow with yellow chives, flat chicken dumplings with bok choy and baked BBQ pork with pineapple-crusted bao.

*Monday, February 8, 11:30 am-2:00 pm; $15 includes choice of three and cup of Chinese tea.


Offering a contemporary blend of Asian cuisine and local flavors, bashi will serve a special Chinese New Year menu, including lemongrass beef rice noodles, Chinese beef noodle soup and dim sum, as well as specialty sweets like fried sesame rice balls and assorted mochi ice cream. bashi will also mix up a selection of three cocktails themed to the holiday’s symbolic Chinese Zodiac animals.

For a twist on the classic Farm-to-Terranea experience, guests attending the resort’s bi-monthly Chef’s Table Dinner Series can indulge in a Chinese New Year-themed menu. Prepared by Executive Chef Bernard Ibarra and Terranea’s award-winning chefs, featured dishes include braised young abalone with ginger and cilantro, crisp noodle wrapped Santa Barbara spot prawns, and a stewed Wagyu beef and lobster clay pot, and more holiday favorites. The evening will begin with a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception followed by an intimate three-course dinner in a private villa with an exquisite selection of wines hand-picked by the event’s featured vintner, Westerly Wines. Guests purchasing two tickets for the Chef’s Table Dinner will receive a complimentary stay that night in an oceanview room. A portion of the proceeds from the dinner benefits Autism Speaks.

*Monday, February 8 at 6 pm, $240++ per guest.
