Celebrate Earth Day by the Pacific at Terranea Resort

Los Angeles’ Premier Oceanfront Resort Honors the Holiday with Special Eco-Programming

 

Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. (April 5, 2016) - Terranea Resort, A Destination Hotel, invites guests and locals to celebrate the beauty and the bounty of the Earth with an assortment of eco-focused workshops, guided excursions and feasts. Along with the bi-monthly Chef’s Table Dinner Series and monthly Full Moon Yoga, guests and locals can help mark the first anniversary of Terranea’s Sea Salt Conservatory with a signature Sunset Ritual and ONEHOPE Wine tasting. Below are the offerings available at Terranea this Earth Day as the resort honors its unparalleled coastal landscape and natural environment.

 

Thursday, April 21

 

Full Moon Yoga Gathering Benefiting Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy I 7:00pm

In celebration of the full moon, yoga lovers are invited to Terranea Resort for a Full Moon Yoga Gathering. The class will take on the Ocean Lawn under the full moon. Yogis of all levels are welcome, and participants are asked to bring their yoga mats and contribute $20 to Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy. Reserve by calling 310-265-2740.

 

Chef’s Table Dinner Series I 6:00pm

The Chef’s Table Dinner Series, intimate Farm-to-Terranea dining experience, offers guests an evening to enjoy a seasonally-themed menu, celebrating locally and sustainably grown and foraged ingredients. Prepared by Executive Chef Bernard Ibarra and Terranea Resort’s award-winning chefs, the Spring’s Bounty three-course dinner is paired with an exquisite selection of wines by Silver Oak, Napa Valley/Twomey, Napa Valley. A portion of the proceeds from the dinner benefits The Bay Foundation. Tickets are $240 per person (plus tax and service charge) and must be purchased in advance, via Terranea.com.

 

Friday, April 22

 

Guided Nature Walk I 8:30am

Join one of Terranea’s naturalists for a complimentary guided walk along the nature trails. Guests can learn about the Palos Verdes Peninsula’s unique local ecosystem and Terranea’s year-round conservation efforts. The pointe discovery activity center allows guests to participate in sustainable efforts by land and by sea throughout the year.

 

LA Waterkeeper - Marine Protected Area Walk & Talk I 10:30am–11:30am

Join Michael Quill, Community Programs Manager at LA Waterkeeper, for a Marine Protected Area-focused talk along with Melissa von Mayrhauser, LA Waterkeeper’s Watershed Program Coordinator, who will be on hand to talk about LA's watershed health. In addition, the Waterkeeper boat will be anchored in the Marine Protected Area that surrounds Terranea Resort. Ian Jacobson, LA Waterkeeper’s Dive Program Coordinator, and the team of volunteer scientific divers will scout the area for invasive algae.

 

Falconry Workshop I 11:30am

Join Terranea’s Falconer, Joe Roy III, for a complimentary meet and greet and learn about the Resort’s eco-friendly bird abatement practices. Guests will learn about the natural history of the birds of prey including Terranea’s Falcons, Harris Hawks and Eurasion Eagle Owls. The falconer will also teach guests about the general identification of these birds and the important role they play in the environment. Guests are invited to meet at pointe discovery at 11:30am.

 

Marine Mammal Care Center Booth I 11:30am- 3:00pm

Guests are invited to visit the Marine Mammal Care Center team at pointe discovery to learn about the organization’s current initiative and volunteer opportunities. Learn about how they examine, feed and help rehabilitate sea lions and seals. There will also be crafts for kids including sea life bracelets and sea lion puppets. Donations are welcomed.

 

Painting & Planting with Art to Grow On Inc. I 2:00-5:00pm

In partnership with Art To Grow On Inc., guests are invited to create their own Terranea masterpieces in celebration of Earth Day. Participants may choose from two different complimentary projects, including the Flower Pot Painting lesson complete with paints, soil and seeds to plant, and a Leaf Embossment Lesson utilizing real leaves and paint rollers.

 

Sea Salt Conservatory Celebration with Sunset Ritual and ONEHOPE Wine Tasting I 6:30-8:00pm

Guests are invited to visit Terranea Resort’s sea salt conservatory for a complimentary wine tasting by ONEHOPE Wine, the resort’s choice of wine. ONEHOPE is committed to making a social impact with half of its proceeds donated to a variety of causes, including U.S. forest preservation and protection. The tasting will take place at the sea salt conservatory, used to harvest and produce Terranea’s own signature sea salt. Created using local sea water from the Pacific, the conservatory serves as a natural evaporation greenhouse resulting in high quality sea salt, ultimately enabling the resort to become sea salt-sustainable. A selection of wines will also be available for purchase to join in the effort of giving back.
