Winter in California: 2017 Favorites

Written By Nikki Cristy, Retail Logistics Coordinator

Unlike most parts of the country, our winters are filled with mostly sunshine, some overcast days, and the occasional drizzle. Dressing for this type of “winter” is difficult when the sky can’t seem to make up its mind. Luckily we found the happy medium between oversized sweaters, lightweight shirts, denim necessities, and that must-have piece of the season.

Olive drab is the new black. A multi-tone flattering color, this color has quickly become popular, rising from the days of camo pants and shorts to the front page of every winter 2018 magazine. You can pair it with whites and blacks to keep things simple, or throw denim and color into the mix.

Another trend we love for winter is velvet. It’s a holiday classic and adds texture to any outfit. This year we’re seeing velvet in blacks, greens (forest, of course), and blues. This winter color palette doesn’t seem to be as dark and demure as years past. Rose gold and pale pink have come out to join the holiday season and we couldn’t be more excited.

Denim on denim. We have to say that it’s back…luckily not like Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake circa 2001 American Music Awards. From Rag & Bone and Frame Denim for bottoms, and Joie and Rails for top options, we are full of denim options. We are loving the multitude of silhouettes that this season is bringing: skinny, boyfriend, mom, high rise, destroyed, and (my personal favorite) the cropped flare.

One of our go-to accessories for the season is an ostrich feather bolero. It’s a really fun way to spice up an outfit. It’s that piece everyone will be talking about all season. Pair this with a suede Tory Burch clutch or a leather tote bag and you’re ready to rule the world…or at least that next holiday party.
