Traditions Celebrations Return to Terranea

A seasonal lineup of holiday-inspired offerings takes place November 2017 through the new year.

Terranea announces its annual “Traditions” calendar, a festive lineup of holiday happenings taking place Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day. Inspired by the spirit of the season, events and offerings are designed for families seeking an oceanside holiday retreat, friends gathering for “Friendsgiving,” couples looking for a luxuriously romantic New Year’s Eve getaway, and beyond—all set against a quintessential Southern California backdrop.

Thursday, November 23 | Turkey Day Trail Walk – Guests can work up a Thanksgiving Day appetite by joining the resort’s resident naturalist for a picturesque guided hike along the property’s winding trails (complete with ocean views). This active holiday offering includes a visit to the Point Vicente Lighthouse, a beloved local attraction. 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; adults and teens $10 (12 years and under complimentary)

November 1-30 | Friendsgiving – Using promo code “FRIENDS,” guests celebrating as a group can indulge in a holiday package that includes luxury accommodations, a private cabana at a resort pool, a s’mores kit for roasting by the fire, nightcaps at the Lobby Bar, valet parking, and more. Ongoing | Holiday Dining –Indulge in a festive feast at one of the resort’s eight restaurants. Guests can enjoy tasting menus at mar’sel (the resort’s signature restaurant), laidback dining at Nelson’s (perched on a bluff overlooking the ocean), a refreshed menu at bashi, buffet selections at catalina kitchen and a resort ballroom, an in-room holiday feast, or turkey takeout from sea beans (the resort’s café). Sunday, December 3 | Tree Lighting Ceremony – Savor the age-old tradition of lighting the tree by attending Terranea’s annual lighting ceremony. Guests enjoy live musical entertainment and holiday crafts for all ages. The resort will accept donations of unwrapped gifts for Toys for Tots, and host a celebratory dinner at catalina kitchen afterwards. Tree Lighting festivities begin at 5 p.m.; attendance is complimentary with toy donation; prices for the catalina kitchen dinner are $65 for adults and $29 for children ages 4-10 (under 3 complimentary)

Sunday, December 31 | “A Night in New Orleans” New Year’s Eve Dinner at mar’sel – Chef Andrew Vaughan pays tribute to his New Orleans roots with a three- or five-course tasting menu (number of courses is dependent on seating times). A live jazz band, vintage Champagne offerings, and parting gifts for guests round out the evening. Seatings are 5-7:30 p.m. and 7:30-9 p.m.; pricing for adults is $145 (first seating, three courses) or $225 (second seating, five courses), $65 for children 5-10

Sunday, December 31 | New Year’s Eve Enchanted Forest - Gather with loved ones in the Marineland Ballroom to bid farewell to 2017 with a 3-course dinner and dessert bar. Sunday, December 31 | New Year’s Eve Extravaganza - Follow dinner with a countdown to 2018 in the Grand Ballroom with package beverage offerings. VIP bottle service available, a dessert and coffee station, and more. Dance the night away to tunes by a live DJ. Ongoing | Postcards to the North Pole – Terranea invites guests of all ages to fill out personalized postcards shipped directly to Santa's Workshop in the North Pole. December 1 - 24; open during the Tide Pool Kids Club hours of operation

Ongoing | Elf Tuck-Ins – Terranea’s resident elves can bring sweet treats and bedtime stories to guests, including a special stocking for children to hang by the chimney. Offered nightly in December from 6-10 p.m.; $35 per child
