Fireworks in the South Bay

6 great places to watch fireworks in the South Bay this 4th of July!

 

In order to preserve the beauty of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, fireworks are not allowed on the 4th of July.  Fortunately, many cities surrounding the hill offer amazing firework displays along with fun nighttime events.  

Here are our top 6 spots to choose from after spending the day by the Terranea pools:

Redondo Beach

Seaside Lagoon, 200 Portofino Way, Redondo Beach, CA 90277

This family-friendly event is the closest to Terranea and will include all day activities for the kids as well as food and live music.

Gates open at 2:00pm.  First come, first serve seating; bring your beach chairs, blankets, and umbrellas.  Alcohol not permitted.

Fireworks begin at 9:00pm.

From Terranea

Join the crew from Harbor Breeze Sailing aboard a custom catamaran built for sightseeing.  The evening will start off with Marine Life viewing and put guests in the heart of the LA Ports 4th of July firework spectacular.  $75 for adults, $25 for children which includes transportation to and from the harbor.

Boat leaves at 6:30pm at Rainbow Harbor Long Beach. Fireworks begin at 9pm.

El Segundo

Stevenson Park, 17400 Lysander Dr, Carson, CA 90746

Join in hula hoop, pie eating, and watermelon eating contests during the day and rock out to live music at night.  Pre-sale tickets are available for El Segundo residents and general admission tickets are available to the public for the night time event from 5-9pm for $5 (children under 2 free).

Fireworks begin at 9:00pm.

San Pedro

Cabrillo Beach, 3720 Stephen M White Dr, San Pedro, CA 90731

San Pedro celebrates the 65th Annual John Alguin 4th of July Extravaganza.  This annual event is produced by the Cabrillo Beach Boosters and is free to the public.  Enjoy a 20 minute fireworks display and an Air Force C-17 flyover from Cabrillo Beach or one of the surrounding marinas.  Sponsors include the Port of Los Angeles, Councilman Joe Buscaino, Coastal, Central and Northwest SP Neighboorhood Councils and many others.

C-17 fly over begins at 6:00pm and the fireworks begin at 9:00pm.

Long Beach

Queen Mary - 1126 Queens Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90802

Celebrate an All-American 4th of July aboard the Queen Mary.  Choose your favortie era of Independence to salute or stroll from decade to decade.  Listen to live music, learn your favorite American jig, and lounge all day enjoying family-friendly activities.  Tickets are available for pre-purchase or day-of ($44-$49, Children $24-$29).

Fireworks begin at 9:00pm.

Marina del Rey

13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey, CA 90292

Enjoy a magical firework display from the waterfront as boats pass by in Marina del Rey.  Shot from a barge, fireworks will light up the sky and water below for a 20 minute extravaganza.

Santa Monica

1900 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405

Santa Monica Community College hosts the westside's biggest firework show.  All day activities available for the whole family.

Parking opens at 3pm ($5), gates open at 5pm.  Animals and alcohol are prohibited.

Fireworks begin at 9:00pm.
