Celebration of Food and Wine 2015

Join us on September 26, 2015 for our second annual Celebration of Food & Wine at Terranea!

Who will be at the Celebration of Food & Wine?

Wine makers from all around the world along with Terranea’s award-winning culinary team are preparing an event that will be sure to delight all of your senses.  From sipping wines and learning through seminars to the exquisite Grand Tasting to cap off the night, each moment will include some of the most prestigious names in the food and wine industries. 

The seminars, curated by Resort Sommelier Szymon Piechaczek, will begin at 2 p.m. and include Wines of the Central Coast, hosted by Justin Winery Founder Justin Baldwin, Dimitri Bizoumis of Villa Oneiro, and Heidi Scheid of Scheid Winery featuring wines from Santa Barbara, Paso Robles, and the Palos Verdes Peninsula, followed by Wines of Oregon, hosted by David Millman of Domaine Drouhin Winery at 3 p.m. Wines of Washington, hosted by Nick Pomponio, Head of Business Development for Chateau St. Michelle Estates will follow at 4 p.m. and Bubbles of the World, featuring Champagne, Prosecco, Cava, and Domestic Sparkling presented by Francois Beall, Brand Ambassador for Nicolas Feuillatte and Palmes d’Or and Jeridan Frye, Champagne Ambassador for Moët Hennessy USA, will close the seminars for the day at 5 p.m.

What is the Celebration of Food & Wine?

This is the second annual Celebration of Food & Wine hosted by Terranea Resort.  The event offers special seminars and wine tastings led by experts, along with a wine luncheon, special wine retail offerings, and a Grand Tasting.  The Celebration of Food and Wine will offer four seminars, as well as a specially prepared lunch and cooking demonstration from the chefs of Terranea. The festival culminates with the Grand Tasting featuring bites from each of Terranea’s restaurants complemented by wine booths represented by select wine purveyors.

Where will the Celebration of Food & Wine events take place?

The entire event will take place at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

When is the Celebration of Food & Wine?

Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 12pm – 8pm.  Guests may purchase tickets to attend the lunch and seminars, the seminars and the Grand Tasting, or a full day experience including the luncheon, seminars, and Grand Tasting.

Why should I go to the Celebration of Food & Wine?

Foodies and wine lovers will unite to experience some of the most delicious bites and sips available.  The wine luncheon, from 12 – 2 p.m., will feature a cooking demonstration by Terranea’s Executive Chef Bernard Ibarra along with dishes paired with wines from Piper Heidsieck, Silver Oak, and Twomey. Guests will start with a trio of Lamb Mortadella, Vitello Tonnato Roll, and Ellie’s Goat Cheese-Filled Squash Blossom with purple cauliflower and house yogurt cream, followed by a first course of Sous-Vide Baby Octopus and Green Lentils Salad with lettuces from the resort’s garden, aged Jerez vinegar, and extra virgin olive oil pressed from olives grown on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The second course will feature a Honey-Caramelized Duck Breast “Magret” with thyme-infused potato block and fig gastrique, followed by a third course of Grilled Rare Strip Steak and Olive “Crustini” with spaghetti squash, bone marrow, red beet coulis and a reduced demi glaze. End on a sweet note with the Caramel Apple Nutella Tea Delight with Nutella tea bread, caramelized apple, and pomegranate zabaglione prepared by Pastry Chef Pierino Jermonti.

The Grand Tasting, featuring the chefs of Terranea, will offer a variety of stations including sushi, Cali taco, “From the Hill” rabbit and bacon porchetta, freshly caught market squid, a variety of fresh cheese and honey from Terranea’s beehives, delectable desserts, and more along with a special selection of wines for guests to taste and explore. The Grand Tasting will take place from 6 – 8 p.m.

How much does it cost to attend the Celebration of Food & Wine?

Festival tickets are offered at $125++ including all four seminars and lunch, $150++ for four seminars and the Grand Tasting, or $225++ for the full day of food and wine experiences that includes the seminars, lunch, and the Grand Tasting.
