Brothers Michael and Kevin Bacon, each accomplished in their own right, play gritty rock that is unapologetically unique and authentic. Their style can best be described by their first album title, Forosoco, meaning the blend of folk, rock, soul and country influences. In addition, the Waterkeeper boat will be anchored in the Marine Protected Area that surrounds Terranea Resort. Ian Jacobson, LA Waterkeeper’s Dive Program Coordinator, and the team of volunteer scientific divers will scout the area for invasive algae.   Falconry Workshop I 11:30am Join Terranea’s Falconer, Joe Roy III, for a complimentary meet and greet and learn about the Resort’s eco-friendly bird abatement practices. Guests will learn about the natural history of the birds of prey including Terranea’s Falcons, Harris Hawks and Eurasion Eagle Owls. The falconer will also teach guests about the general identification of these birds and the important role they play in the environment. Crafted for taste and boldness, the air roasted blend of Costa Rica Rio Jorco El Bambu and Guatemala Hunapu coffee beans offer notes of honey, mild fruits, caramel, chocolate and citrus. The new custom blend is currently being poured at mar’sel, and will be available for purchase at sea beansin May.    “We are committed to delivering superior quality products for our guests,” said Jun Sur, Director of Food & Beverage at Terranea Resort. “Terranea’s Signature Blend was carefully crafted for taste and delivers a premium coffee experience. As well, our partnership with Black Coffee allows Terranea to further expand our commitment to supporting the community.”   Based in Los Angeles, Black Coffeeroasts sustainably grown, high altitude Arabica beans and dedicates 10 percent of their proceeds to provide a solution for change, including the training of at-risk youth and creation of jobs, in the inner city of Los Angeles.    Black Coffee’s air roasting technology achieves a deep, bold roast while maintaining the delicate varietal characteristics of the premium beans. The beans are roasted in a specialized steel drum as they move through a constant, heated air current, resulting in an evenly roasted bean that is free from tar, burn and bitterness.   The medium brew Terranea Signature Blend will be served in a French Press at mar’sel, and prepackaged for sale at sea beans.  Black Coffee’s regular and decaf drip coffee and espresso are also available in sea beans along with the new Nitro Brew. (March 29, 2016) Terranea Resort, A Destination Hotel, is pleased to announce three new appointments to the Food & Beverage Program: Vincent Brunetti as Associate Director of Food & Beverage, Chef Jonathan de la Cruz as Banquet Sous Chef, and Pastry Chef Mark Clear as Assistant Pastry Chef. Vincent Brunetti joins Terranea as Associate Director of Food & Beverage from Kauai, Hawaii, where he recently served as Director of Food & Beverage for the St. Regis Princeville Resort. Prior to that, Brunetti directed food and beverage programs for the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort & Spa in Honolulu, as well as the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach, California. "Vincent brings over 20 years of food and beverage experience to the team at Terranea,” said Jun Sur, Director of Food & Beverage of Terranea Resort. “We welcome his insight on operations and management, while we continue to provide the excellent quality and service that have made Terranea a dining destination." Chef Jonathan de la Cruz joins the Food & Beverage team at Terranea as Banquet Sous Chef. Growing up working in family run restaurants in Southern California, de la Cruz eventually moved to Las Vegas to work at Ravella at Lake Las Vegas, Thomas Keller’s Bouchon at the Venetian, and the Red Rock Casino. Most recently, de la Cruz was the Chef de Cuisine at the Hyatt Tamaya in Albuquerque, New Mexico for their three-meal restaurant, Santa Ana Café.     "Jonathan found a passion for cooking from his grandmother and mom at an early age, helping them prepare family meals at home,” said Terranea Resort Executive Chef Bernard Ibarra. “As a native of the Inland Empire, we are excited to have him back in Southern California as the newest member of our culinary team.” Assistant Pastry Chef Mark Clear has been with Terranea since the resort’s opening in 2009, and has worked his way up the ranks through the banquet kitchen, and subsequently the pastry team, until his latest appointment as Assistant Pastry Chef. Having worked in kitchens since the age of 15, Clear began his career decorating pies at Marie Callendar’s, then worked at the Cheesecake Factory while earning his culinary degree at Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena. After graduation Clear worked in the savory end of the culinary industry for ten years, continuing his work at the Cheesecake Factory, before moving on to positions at Toyota’s corporate headquarters in Torrance, and at the University Club at the University of Southern California, before committing to pastry full time.   "Mark’s dedication throughout the years has made him a inimitable part of our team,” said Executive Pastry Chef Pierino Jermonti. “He has truly been an asset in leading our team to success, and it is a pleasure to have him accept this position.”

Terranea Resort Appoints Kevin McKee as Vice President of Finance

  Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. (March 23, 2016) Terranea Resort, A Destination Hotel, is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin McKee as Vice President of Finance. McKee comes to Terranea with over 25 years of finance and accounting experience in the hospitality industry.   “We are pleased to welcome Kevin to the Terranea team,” said Terri Haack, President of Terranea Resort. “His financial experience in the hospitality industry, specifically within the resort environment, will be a great asset to Terranea. We look forward to the ongoing growth of Terranea Resort with the addition of Kevin to the team.”   Most recently, McKee served as the Vice President of Finance for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation in Colorado where he directed financial growth of the 3,000-acre ski resort with 26 F&B venues, 13 retail & rental shops, condo hotel, and other resort amenities. Previous hospitality experience includes serving as Chief Financial Officer at the Fontainebleau Resort in Miami Beach and as the financial leader of several Ritz-Carlton and Marriott properties in The United States, Caribbean, and Australia.   “I’m excited to join the talented team at Terranea,” said McKee. “It is a spectacular property, and I look forward to leading the team to continue the financial success of the resort.”   McKee holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the Clinch Valley College of the University of Virginia, as well as an MBA from the University of Miami.
