Covering over 102 acres of pristine California coastline, Terranea is home to a wide range of rare migrating species including the Red Tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, Great Horned Owl and the El Segundo Blue Butterfly.

Terranea's marine refuge, rich in kelp forests, serves as a protective environment to Gray Whales, Dolphins, Sea Lions, and Sea Otters.

Description
Relaxed and stylishly elegant, the 25,000 square-foot oceanfront Spa Terranea is nestled in a secluded, unrivaled setting with sweeping views of the Pacific and Catalina Island. Designed by BAMO of San Francisco, the Spa embraces classic Mediterranean style architecture in creating a distinctly California-style "sanctuary of the senses." Featuring generous use of natural stone, wood and water, it has a very contemporary and natural outdoor feel. With finishes comprised of stone, tile, wood, water, bamboo and plant material, the transition of indoor to outdoor space flows seamlessly.

The Spa
Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Spa Terranea offers 24 luxury treatment rooms including couples rooms, hydrotherapy, massage and facial rooms all located on the second level and accessed by a grand staircase with unobstructed ocean views. 24 Treatment Rooms include:

Terranea's 5,000 square-foot, full-service Fitness & Wellness Center features Life Fitness cardiovascular and weight training equipment, a movement studio and an outdoor yoga terrace.

Spa cabanas and spectacular ocean views from a variety of sweeping terraces create intimate seating areas around the spa's lap pool.

An expansive and diversified wellness program includes hiking, cycling, water classes, yoga, Pilates, movement, meditation and lifestyle awareness classes.Personal training is also available.

The intimate Spa Cafe offers a wide variety of delicious, freshly prepared natural food, juices and other drinks. Dishes are prepared with minimal intervention, thereby focusing the flavors on the combinations of the ingredients.

Time is of the essence and The Spa at Terranea believes that by responding to nature's rhythm guests re-awaken to their own natural bio-rhythms. In the morning while rested and energized, guests are invited to participate in a brisk walk along the peninsula, inhaling the therapeutic salt air while the breezes stimulate mind and spirit. When the day is young and full of promise, treatments and activities correspond to our ‘active, energetic nature'. In the afternoon and evening, treatments and activities become less energetic, more calming and contemplative in nature.

A harmonizing, luxurious footbath of healing crystal quartz coupled with a reflex-structural foot massage encourages alignment of body and mind.

Ocean Prelude
The ocean's chemical composition mirrors are own fluid body and we harness its nutrients to replenish our own. Begin with a replenishing seaweed wrap rich in vital nutrients before slipping into a relaxing warm salt water bath. Cleansed and nourished, relax into the sensuous, robust pleasures of a warm, long stroke laminaria oil massage.

Afternoon
El Segundo Blue - A Ritual of Metamorphosis
An aromatic journey into self stirs body, mind and spirit. Begin with a slow, rhythmic massage of sensuous, aromatic botanicals before settling into a blissful cocoon of revitalizing sea blue mineral clay. A divine head & scalp massage inspires deep relaxation and soaring dreams of flight.

Flickering Embers
The glow of flickering embers from a nearby fireplace, the subtle alchemy of incense & the sound of ocean waves sets the tone for a deeply relaxing experience of your essential self. Bask in the soothing warmth of a nutrient rich, detoxifying volcanic ash body wrap. Follow with a neutral bath of fragranced essential oils and healing magnesium.
