Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. (November 6, 2012) – Terranea Resort, Los Angeles’ premier oceanfront vacation destination, continues to receive top industry accolades including its most recent ranking as one of the top three resorts in Southern California by Condé Nast Traveler in the annual Readers’ Choice Awards. The Spa at Terranea, The Links at Terranea, the resort’s nine-hole par three golf course, and celebrated restaurants also received numerous esteemed honors from the likes of Travel + Leisure, U.S. News & World Report, Los Angeles Times, Zagat, LA Weekly and more.
Terranea took the number three spot in the list of leading Southern California resorts in the prestigious 25th annual Reader’s Choice Awards. Each year, Condé Nast Traveler invites readers to vote on the best hotels, islands, cruises, cities and airlines from around the world. This year the annual awards received a record number of votes, with participation from more than 46,000 readers. Only 370 hotels, resorts and cruise lines rated above 90 out of 100 points, Terranea being one of them. Boasting luxury accommodations that range from hotel suites to spacious villas, an acclaimed dining scene, award-winning golf course and spa, innovative Pointe Discovery activity center and adventure concierge, Terranea earned this award for the world-class experiences, top-notch service and first-rate amenities it continues to provide for guests.
“Since opening in 2009, our vision has been to create an iconic destination resort, with world-class service, for travelers from around the globe,” said Executive Vice President and Managing Director Terri A. Haack. “It’s thrilling to see this come to fruition and to be recognized by both industry professionals as well as travelers, and to be included amongst other esteemed resorts in such highly regarded publications like Condé Nast Traveler.”
The Spa at Terranea was recently named one of the top five hotel spas in the continental United States in Travel + Leisure’s 17th annual World’s Best Awards, and was the only spa in California to make the list. The coveted list is determined in part by readers and covers rankings for the best hotels, cities, islands, cruise lines, destination and hotel spas and more. Terranea placed high in each of the four rated categories: ambience, treatments, service and value. Spanning 50,000 square feet, the award-winning spa, salon, wellness and fitness center blends a tranquil Mediterranean ambiance with state-of-the-art design by the foremost experts in wellness and restorative therapy. Resort guests and daytime visitors discover a private sanctuary with 25 treatment rooms that overlook a glistening, panoramic seascape and Catalina Island, it’s no wonder why the Spa at Terranea excelled in all four categories.
In addition to receiving top honors from Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure, Terranea was ranked one of the top ten best hotels in Los Angeles by U.S. News & World Report. The resort was named best hotel in LA in the Los Angeles Times Reader’s Choice Awards, which also honored the Spa at Terranea with best day spa / massage in the South Bay and The Links as best golf course in the South Bay. Furthermore, Zagat awarded Terranea’s signature restaurant mar’sel with the title of best décor in their 2013 Los Angeles Restaurants Survey and LA Weekly named Nelson’s, a cliff-side spot ideal for whale watching, the Best American Restaurant in the South Bay.
