New Terranea Resort Appoints Food & Beverage Director

Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. - February 24, 2009 - Executive Vice President and Managing Director Terri A. Haack is pleased to announce the new Director of Food & Beverage Shawn Jervis of the new Terranea Resort, a 102-acre oceanfront hotel opening in June 2009. The $450 million resort development, managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts and developed by Lowe Enterprises, is situated along one of the most dramatic California coastline settings, just south of Los Angeles.

"Shawn Jervis has spent the past 18 years building a solid food and beverage foundation that would one day be the strength of a great hotel. It is on this foundation that the skilled food and beverage team at Terranea will be built," said Haack.

Terranea Resort is being created with the utmost sensitivity to its native environment and a guiding philosophy of ecological sustainability. A strong environmentalist himself, Jervis strives to "go green" by eliminating the use of plastic material in the beverage service and replacing items such as swizzle sticks and plates with bamboo-made products. He complements the philosophy of Executive Chef Christian Schmidt who brings an eco-friendly orientation into all aspects of his dining options with an emphasis on local and organic foods.

Prior to joining Terranea, Jervis was at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Kapalua, Maui where he worked for 9 years, starting as director of banquets and moving up to executive assistant manager of food and beverage. Prior to that, he worked as director of banquets at the Grand Wailea, Maui. His history also includes such prestigious properties as The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Dearborn, MI; Adams Mark Hotel, CO and Renaissance, DC.

Jervis has been recognized as a strong player in the hospitality food and beverage industry through his leadership in such prestigious events as the Mercedes Championship, a PGA golf tournament (8 years), Kapalua Wine and Food Festival (8 years) and Celebration of the Arts, a Hawaiian cultural event (8 years.) He believes in being active in the community and supporting charity outreach programs - both major planks for Terranea.

Jervis served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Presidential Honor Guard and is a Gulf War Veteran. To his credit are the Combat Action Ribbon (1991) and the Good Conduct Medal (1993.)
