Inspired by the bounty and beauty of its 102 acre oceanfront surroundings, mar'sel is an elegant yet inviting retreat that features sweeping panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. Expansive, open-air windows and French doors allow guests to feel the refreshing ocean breezes while an outdoor fire pit offers intimate dining under the stars.

DECOR:
The cozy, speakeasy feel of the leather banquettes in the bar area contrast beautifully with the glowingly backlit, silver-topped bar with a hint of patina. The warm chocolate browns and natural woods of the main dining room play off of vivid coral accents to create a luxuriously welcoming feel. Vaulted ceilings and an inviting fireplace create the illusion of an intimate living room while the surrounding French doors create a unique indoor-outdoor sense of space that continues to the patio seating and panoramic views of the Pacific beyond.

MENU:
The name mar'sel is derived from the Spanish terms for sea, mar, and French for salt, sel, and is certainly an indicator of Chef de Cuisine Michael Fiorelli's modern interpretations of a classic, California-inspired menu. Utilizing local, seasonal ingredients (some drawn from the herb and produce gardens on property,) Fiorelli's bright flavors, refreshing presentations and impressive attention to detail dovetail harmoniously on the plate and the palate.

mar'sel's seasonally inspired menu features delectable starters such as asparagus macchiato with Serrano ham croquet madame; crudo of wild Hawaiian caught walu, California olive oil, fresno chili and three salts; or bel aire bbq with chicken "oysters", creamless creamed corn, and pickled watermelon rind. For entrees, guests will enjoy first of season oregon porcini, caramelized shallots, soft mascarpone polenta; "vitello tonnato" with prosciutto wrapped big eye tuna, crispy sweetbread, ricotta pudding and "caponata"; or marinated Wagyu ribeye cap, creamed chard tortelloni and alex's baby carrots "Sicilian lifeguard style." For a sweet finish, try luscious desserts such as an espresso and chocolate praline with dark chocolate mousse, custard, thyme caramel and apricot sorbet; or panna cotta with farmers market bing cherries, greek yogurt and organic honey.

WINE & SPIRITS:
Even the most sophisticated connoisseur will appreciate mar'sel's vast wine collection. With a focus on sustainable and biodynamic wines, guests can choose from the approximately 30 different wines by the glass or the extensive by-the-bottle offerings that feature a large selection of California based wineries. For cocktails, mar'sel offers an inventive and ever-changing list inspired by seasonal ingredients and utilizing organic spirits.
