Hollywood Inspires Fun Camps For Children and Teens
Tapping into its long history as a favorite Hollywood film location, Terranea is launching a series of movie industry-themed camps for children, tweens and teens as part of its unique programming for younger guests. Debuting this winter, the camps include movie production, video game creation, Jedi training, fencing and fashion design. The first camps begin the week of December 19.
Movie Production (Grades 7-10)
Movie production is the perfect camp for anyone interested in making their own movies. Coordinated by Planet Bravo, a company specializing in multimedia education for students ages 5 to 16, this class takes students through the process of movie creation from development through production.
Video Game Creation (Grades 4-6):
Also coordinated by Planet Bravo, this class teaches students how to make their own interactive video game. Students start the course with a blank white stage and fill it with original characters, sets and props.
Fashion Camp (ages 8 and up)
Designed for ages 8 and up, Terranea’s fashion camp is led by Jill Ohanneson, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles and veteran TV and film costume designer with shows like Trauma, Six Feet Under, Swingtown and Lie to Me among her credits. Ohanneson introduces participants to the world of fashion design and even allows them to put their creativity to the test by fashioning their own designs.
Jedi Training Camp (Ages 4-12)
In partnership with Swordplay Studio in Burbank, Terranea presents Jedi training camp. Campers create their own Jedi character and develop their balance and coordination through fun Jedi training games, practice flight simulation (courtesy of Nintendo and Playstation), study of astronomy and lessons in how to wield a lightsaber.
Fencing Camp (Ages 7-16)
Campers are introduced to one of Hollywood’s favorite art forms- fencing! Students receive instruction in footwork and technique, take part in fencing drills and games, learn about the history of fencing and even compete in an in-class fencing tournament.
Each camp is five days long and runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Upcoming dates: December 19- 23 and December 26-30 (except Jedi and Fencing camps)
