New Resort Beverage Manager and Sommelier Steven Ashworth, who joins Terranea with 30 years of experience in the Food & Beverage industry, is chaperoning the sipping selections.
Ashworth is a member of the Guild of Sommeliers and the Association of Italian Sommeliers and has been acknowledged as one of the top sommeliers in Southern California. In his current position at Terranea, Ashworth oversees all aspects of the wine and beverage program including the selection of fine wines and the creation of signature cocktails at all the resort’s food and beverage properties, including the Lobby Bar. Ashworth, a former elite athlete and member of the United States Track & Field team, was most recently the General Manager of Andrea, the signature restaurant at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, and was also the Resort Sommelier and Wine Director.
From the Basil Grape Cosmo with Ketel One Citroen, Cointreau, Basil, Grapes, and Cranberry, to the Cucumber Bliss with Hendrick’s Gin, Cucumber, Basil, and Soda, the Lobby Bar’s exotic cocktails are concocted with the finest and freshest ingredients available – including gold. Indulgent palates can surrender to the $100 Agave Gold cocktail with Deleón Reposado Tequila, Grand Marnier Cuvée du Cent Cinquantenaire, Cointreau, Lime Juice, Agave Syrup, Australian “Murray River” Pink Sea Salt Rim, and a 24-Carat Gold Leaf Garnish. Those looking to savor simpler sips can find refuge in the expansive spirit list that features Whiskey, Cognac, Brandy, Gin, Rum, Tequila, and Vodka. All menu items can be enjoyed on the Lobby Bar’s prime patio location overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Bar bites include Cheese Plates with customizable selections such as Coach Farm Triple Crème Goat Cheese and Marin French Cheese Company Camembert that are accompanied by fig-strawberry jam, quince paste, dried fruits, nuts, and baguette. Charcuterie Plates find inspiration in La Quercia Proscuitto and Fabrique Delices Duck Rillette and are outfitted with balsamic onions, gherkins, and baguette. Lighter appetites can indulge in Mixed Olives, a Roasted Duo of Tomatoes, Gigandes Beans, and Peppadew Sweet Peppers, before signing off for the night with Executive Pastry Chef Pierino Jermonti’s Praline Trio, Cheesecake Crème Brulee or Chocolate Strata.
