2010 Summer Golf and Recreation Camps

These one-week camps offer kids the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of golf from The Links' professional team, or explore Terranea through exciting planned activities with the Tide Pool kids' club amazing recreation team.

The Junior Golf Camp is designed to teach beginning and intermedi¬ate level golfers the fundamentals for the game of a lifetime. The Links' PGA professional staff of Buddy Nichols, Evan Sales and Mike Hill teach the essentials of putting, chipping, pitching, the full swing and playing the course. Students are also introduced to etiquette, rules of the game and athletic development.Adventure Camp (Ages 7-15) - $249 per child - half day/$399 per child - all day

Ahoy Kids! Terranea's awesome recreation team guides their young explorers through a week of funtabulous games, crafts, activities and adventures. In addition to the fun, campers learn about Ter-ranea and its history and ecology. They just might get a little wet, too! Activities will be tailored based on age and interests, and teens have special access to the Teen Lounge. Additional Camp Options
Tapping into its long history as a favorite Hollywood film location, Terranea offers a series of movie industry-themed camps for children, tweens and teens as part of its unique offerings for younger guests. Offered seasonally during winter, spring and summer breaks, the camp themes include movie production, video game creation, Jedi training, fencing and fashion design.
Each camp is five days long and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Cost for each camp is $425.

Fashion Camp (Ages 13-16) - $750
This five-day camp designed for ages 13 to 16 years, will be led by Jill Ohanneson, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles and veteran TV and film costume designer with shows like Six Feet Under, Swingtown and Lie to Me among her credits. Ohanneson will introduce participants to the world of fashion allowing them to design their very own clothing line. The camp concludes with a fashion show and each participant receiving a compilation of their designs on DVD! Call (310) 265-2800 to make a reservation.
Fashion Camp (Ages 8-12) - $600
This five-day camp designed for ages 8 to 12 years, will be led by Jill Ohanneson, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles and veteran TV and film costume designer with shows like Six Feet Under, Swingtown and Lie to Me among her credits. Ohanneson will introduce participants to the world of fashion design allowing them show their individual style and creativity. Movie Production (Grades 7-10) - $495
In this exciting endeavor, students make their own short movie - from development through production! In the course of five days, students work in small production groups to plan, produce, edit, and package their videos! Students get their own computer on which they'll edit their scenes, add special effects, and render their final products. All students leave camp with a DVD they can share with friends and family. Video Game Creation (Grades 4-6) - $495
If you like playing video games, imagine what it's like to make your own! For the past seven years, this innovative camp has excited and inspired thousands of children who learn to make interactive video games! Students start the course with a blank white stage and fill it with awesome characters, sets, and props. In a few simple clicks, they assign behaviors and conditions to their objects, and the game comes to life! This camp course is not only fun, it's incredibly engaging and educational. This is a math and logic course without anyone realizing it! All students leave camp with their games online and on a USB drive. No previous experience necessary.
Lego-Motion (Grades 1-3) - $425
In this construction and animation course, students build their own LEGO creations, then bring them to life in stop-motion movies! This class is half building, half creating with a tripod-mounted camera. Students even get to edit their own stop-motion movies on the computer! Everyone leaves class with digital movies of their LEGOs coming to life.
Video Game Creation (Grades 4-6) - $425
Video games were made to be played by multiple people, and this class will focus on creating games that many people can enjoy. From split-screens and turn-by-turn games, to the complicated world of network gaming, multiplayer video game design will challenge even the most experienced of Fusion users to create an enjoyable experience for the Luigis of the world, and not just the Marios.
Special Effects (Grades 4-8) - $425
At PlanetBravo, students are given the opportunity to use editing software to add in effects like green screen, picture-in-picture, and sound effects in the past. This year, we're taking it to the next level by offering an entire course in special effects and the incredible things that can be done in post production.
