Terranea celebrates Oktoberfest with a special menu featuring an authentic German spread. Festive menu items include Munich Sausage Salad, Munich Weiss Wurst, Obazda (a traditional Bavarian cheese spread served with sweet onion rings), Crispy Roasted Pork Shank, Tradition Wiener Schnitzel, and Munich-style Sauerbraten. Terranea's Destination Dish of The Month: Caramel Mascarpone Apple Parfait
Destination Hotels & Resorts has challenged our chefs across the country to take part in The Destination Dish. Each month Destination Hotels & Resorts will select one ingredient and each chef must create a recipe around the chosen ingredient and incorporate it into their restaurant menu that month. The ingredient changes every month, so do the menu items.

A big trend going on right now in many restaurants are Homemade Sodas! There is just something about ordering a unique bubbly drink. Creative sodas made with fresh ingredients is definitely worth trying! What is great about this trend is how it can be carried over at home. Combinations of Hibiscus Lime or Tamarind Peach give typical sodas a run for its money. As it turns out "soda" is really a fancy term for flavored simple syrup with seltzer mixed in. So why not treat your taste buds to a carbonated drink that has a delicious surprise! Kids of all ages will enjoy. The combinations are endless!

I enjoyed another trip to the Terranea Spa to relax before surgery this week. What a feast for all the senses. I started the day with Hatha Yoga then took the Aquatic Conditioning class and finished with the Flexibar/Core class. I refueled with a delicious coffee/chocolate smoothie at Sea Beans. As I sat under the warming rays of the sun and looked out at the ocean, I was mesmerized by groups of pelicans winging overhead. I also spotted a small bright gold bird (perhaps a Yellow Warbler) flying over the pool. Every so often, a dragonfly would zip by. It is - without a doubt - the best place to spot frolicking seals and pods of dolphins. I even discovered a blue throated lizard winding its way around the native plants. Another beautiful day to remember and, by God's grace, I will return soon.

Destination Hotels & Resorts Incentive Affinity Team has collaborated with Project Athena Foundation and its founder, Robyn Benincasa to offer an opportunity for agencies who booked new incentive programs in FY 2011. Programs that met a predetermined set of requirements that included revenue and minimum of four DH&R Incentive properties, were eligible to have Destination Hotels & Resorts sponsor individuals, nominated by the agency, for Project Athena Foundation’s Rim to Rim – Grand Canyon Adventure of a lifetime.
