Green Initiatives
Terranea benefits from California Coastal Commission's desire to preserve and protect the beauty of this precious setting. With this, Terranea is dedicated to practices that pay respect to the precious environment that surrounds it and protect the valuable coastal resources that define Palos Verdes Peninsula. All employees will be trained on green initiatives to be implemented throughout the resort, and all guests will be encouraged to follow the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
Programs throughout the resort have been developed that will inspire children to embrace environmentally friendly practices through education and encourage guests and associates to stay in touch with the environment and to savor the wonderful outdoor options of the site.
Terranea, managed by Lowe Destination Development's sister company, Destination Hotels & Resorts, benefits from California Coastal Commission's desire to preserve and protect the beauty of this precious setting.
These are just a few green initiatives that will be implemented throughout Terranea:
- Educate and inspire associates and guests to a global cause
- Utilize certified "green" cleaning products
- Incorporate sustainable processes /practices (i.e., recycling, turning off lights/computers, etc.)
- Provide access to public transportation or shuttle services
- Use of hybrid and low emission vehicles
- "Greening" all staff air travel with purchase of carbon & electrical offset credits, which counteract the pollution caused by one's air travel
- In years 1-3, attain at least 70% of waste not going to landfill
- "Green Meetings" practices such as recycling name badges, providing reuseable water bottles, using digital signage and encouraging paperless meetings
- Embrace Destination Hotels & Resorts Corporate Destination Earth initiatives
